Port Jefferson Dermatology, with locations in Port Jefferson Station and Patchogue
, is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Full-Time Medical Assistant to join our busy dermatology practice. The ideal candidate is committed to providing excellent patient care, thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment, and enjoys working collaboratively with physicians and staff to deliver exceptional patient experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Provide outstanding patient care while ensuring a positive patient experience.
  • Assist physicians during patient examinations and office visits.
  • Assist physicians with minor surgical and dermatologic procedures.
  • Prepare treatment rooms, instruments, and supplies for procedures.
  • Sterilize and maintain surgical instruments in accordance with infection control guidelines.
  • Verify patient demographics, medical history, medications, and insurance information.
  • Document patient information accurately using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Prepare, label, and process specimens for laboratory testing.
  • Communicate with pharmacies regarding prescriptions and medication requests.
  • Process prior authorizations for medications and treatments.
  • Return patient phone calls and respond to patient inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and assist with scheduling and patient communication.
  • Perform administrative duties, including recordkeeping, data entry, and maintaining accurate medical records.
  • Support providers and clinical staff with daily workflow and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • Previous dermatology experience preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional, compassionate, and patient-focused attitude.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.
