Summary:

The mission of the Bureau of Public Health Clinics is to promote a healthy community by providing New Yorkers with the resources needed to make informed and empowered health decisions; identify and treat tuberculosis and provide immunization and sexual health services regardless of ability to pay or immigration status. It is also the Bureau's vision to provide timely, accessible, high-quality, equitable and respectful care that helps improve the lives of our patients and contributes to a healthier community.

The Public Health Advisors, LII will work in one of the Bureau's Quickie Labs and report directly to the Express Clinic Supervisor.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Review reason for visit with patients and continue services for screening-only patients in the express clinic by entering data into EMR.
  • Counsel patients on the services provided.
  • Conduct confidential advising of patients when diagnosed with STI, HIV or Covid to refer for follow-ups, as appropriate.
  • Enter data into EMR/EPIC: patient information, demographics, post patient results and other information, when applicable.
  • Perform HIV Rapid Screening Tests (INSTI), provide HIV rapid test results in a clinical setting.
  • Prepare specimen collection room and conduct specimen processing daily by labeling, packaging, ordering tests in EMR, and transporting to specific Quickie PHL area in a timely manner.
  • Maintain inventory of cepheid biological testing kits.
  • Prepare inventory and supply functions under the direction of express clinic manager with coordination of PHL representative.
  • Staff may be asked to work one (1) evening clinic a month to support services.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with staff and management to meet employee and client needs and objectives.
