SUMMARY The Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) provides clinical and programmatic support to participants, families, and staff across agency programs. The LCSW is responsible for conducting short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and staff training to promote the social-emotional well-being of participants. This position requires experience in school-based, behavioral health, or family service settings, as well as expertise in trauma-informed care and mental health resource coordination.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Major Duties and Responsibilities Direct Services & Clinical Support Provide short-term counseling and case support to participants and families, utilizing trauma-informed, strengths-based, and motivational interviewing approaches.

Conduct crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed, ensuring participant and staff safety.

Develop and implement customized crisis navigation plans for program sites.

Maintain accurate, timely documentation of all participant interactions and referrals.

Collect and enter de-identified, aggregate data on mental health referrals to assess participant needs and inform program planning.

Training & Capacity Building Train and support staff on topics including mental health diagnoses, symptoms, behavioral indicators, and available community resources.

Provide consultation to staff on effective engagement strategies for participants with mental health or behavioral challenges and develop tools to support consistent use of these strategies across programs.

Support program teams in implementing trauma-informed practices and de-escalation techniques.

Identify and work with part-time social work interns, providing guidance and support to ensure alignment with program goals and participant needs.

Resource Coordination & DYCD Support Submit requests for resources and supports to DYCD on an ongoing basis to ensure participant needs are met in a timely manner.

Coordinate with DYCD for additional supports such as transportation assistance, paraprofessionals, nurses, or other staffing needs.

Build and maintain partnerships with local mental health providers and community-based organizations to facilitate referrals and service access.

Maintain biweekly communication with the school guidance team to coordinate services, share updates, and ensure participant needs are being met.

Collaboration & Compliance Collaborate with program leadership to ensure services align with agency standards and DYCD contractual requirements.

Participate in interdisciplinary meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities.

Adhere to all agency, DYCD, and HIPAA confidentiality and documentation standards.

STATEMENT OF SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW) required.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in New York State.

Minimum 2-3 years of post-graduate experience in a school, behavioral health, or family service setting.

SIFI certification is a plus.

Experience working with individuals and families with mental health diagnoses.

Proven ability to conduct short-term counseling, crisis intervention, and use trauma-informed and motivational interviewing approaches.

Experience training staff on mental health topics and community resource navigation.

Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team within a diverse community setting.

Maintain consistency and accuracy in data collection and entry to support program evaluation and compliance reporting.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, Windows, and database management.
