Summary:
Early Intervention (EI) is a comprehensive interagency program that supports infants and children with developmental delays in their efforts to realize their full potential. It reduces the likelihood of delays among at‑risk children, assists and empowers families to meet their child's and their own needs, and entitles children, regardless of race, ethnicity or income, to services through the program. The EI Outreach Unit conducts outreach and educational activities Citywide to raise awareness of early childhood development and the Early Intervention Program.
A key tool for identifying children in need of EI Services is developmental screening conducted by professionals of all disciplines, caretakers and parents, using a validated instrument such as the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ).
Position Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Outreach & Staff Development, with a focus on neighborhoods served by the 2
Care initiative, the Outreach and Training Specialist will initiate and foster connections with childcare providers, community and faith-based organizations, medical and health care providers, government agencies and others.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct trainings, virtual or in-person to parents, medical providers, community-based, faith-based, and city-agency partners about the EI Program.
- Create trainings, resources, and materials as directed using PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Office programs, Articulate and other programs to adapt to the needs of outreach partners and the NYC EI Program.
- Responsible for timely completion of forms, preparation of outreach materials, and data collection and generating monthly reports.
- Perform outreach in the evening or on weekends across the five boroughs as needed.
- Demonstrate an accurate understanding of the EI Program.
- Work and collaborate as a team member with other Outreach and BEI staff.
