SUPERVISOR: Director of IGHL Opportunity Center
SALARY RANGE: starting at $20/hr
The Developmental Specialist Assistant (DSA) is responsible to assist consumers with their daily responsibilities and to provide the consumers with training that supports their Habilitation Support Plan.
RESPONSIBILITIESE
- Connotes Essential Functions
E-1 Provides direct supervision of assigned caseload.
E-2 Assists the program participant, Service Coordinator and advocate in creating a plan of protective oversight and support Habilitation plan.
E-3 Maintains daily documentation records and necessary documentation regarding the program participants daily routines such as documentation records, monthly notes and weekly summaries.
E-4 Provides the necessary training, support and opportunities to achieve outcomes such as:
- Increase sense of self esteem.
- Increase relationships with others.
- Exercise of choice.
- Development of new skills.
- Improvement of existing skills.
- Increase awareness of community activities.
E-5 Adheres to OPWDD and IGHL policy, including Safety and Code of Conduct. Completes agency forms as required: time sheets, time off requests, tuition reimbursement, physical complaint, non-reportable and incident reports; utilizes time system correctly.

- Participates in community activities with consumers providing support and guidance.

- Implements creative in-house centers while providing support and guidance to consumers during centers.

- Enforces and adheres to all safety policies and procedures.

- All other duties as assigned.
E-1 Responsible to transport consumers to and from programs and/or daily activities.
REQUIREMENTS- High School Diploma/GED
- One-year experience working with the disabled population
- Valid NYS driver’s license
- Experience or interest in instructing the developmentally disabled during real life experiences
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. at least five times per hour
- Complete and maintain Adult CPR and SCIP certifications, as per IGHL policy
- Must be able to sit, stand and bend throughout the day
- Enthusiastic team player that can handle stressful situations professionally with ease
