Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Central Sterile Technician-ACC 38th St SPD-Swing Day Shift (37.5 Hours).
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for all instrument exchange carts, par level carts, instrument sets, single peel packs, and emergency supplies, meeting established quality and quantity quotas. The candidate delivers these to the surgical suites in a timely manner, decontaminates, disinfects, tests, adjusts, and assembles mobile patient equipment, and assists in decontaminating designated surgical instrumentation. They inventory, order, and stock medical disposable goods in storage areas and are responsible for material handling within the sterile processing area.
They also answer telephones, handle face-to-face interactions with internal and external customers, and actively participate in continuous quality improvement processes.
- Demonstrate knowledge of decontamination, disinfection, and cleaning methods.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Perform and document quality assurance processes, including random sampling of products according to protocol.
- Incorporate infection control guidelines during the transferring, storing, and transporting of sterile packages.
- Effectively enter, modify, and search information in the instrument tracking system.
- Demonstrate knowledge of sterilization processes, documentation, and delivery of sterile packages.
- Demonstrate knowledge of major surgical instrument preparation and assembly, inspection and packaging.
High School Diploma or equivalent. Certification from the Certification for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD): one of Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER), or Certified Flexible Endoscope Reprocessor (CFER). Provisional certification is acceptable. 400 hours of hands‑on training must be completed prior to expiration of provisional certification.
Required LicensesSterile Processing & Distribution-Certified CBSPD, Central Sterile Technician (HSPA)
Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of specific health care products, patient care equipment, surgical instruments, medical terminology, and basic use. Completion of a formal central service technician or surgical technologist education program. Basic computer skills.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

SalarySalary range: $63,948.07 – $63,948.07 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, specialty, education, and hospital need.
