Job Summary:
Responsible for providing specialized respiratory care to patients across various units, including ICU, ER, medical/surgical, pediatric, and neonatal stabilization. The Respiratory Therapist collaborates with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes through ventilation management, troubleshooting, and patient assessments.
Responsibilities:
- Administer advanced respiratory treatments including aerosol set-up, tracheostomy care, and ventilator management.
- Monitor and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) to guide patient care decisions.
- Operate and troubleshoot high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, CPAP, and other ventilators.
- Provide respiratory care supporting adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations, including stabilization of newborns.
- Deliver medications via invasive and noninvasive ventilation, ensuring safety and proper administration.
- Collaborate with medical staff to perform procedures such as EKGs and COVID-19 patient care as needed.
Qualifications:
- Current NY State Respiratory Therapist license in hand prior to submission.
- Minimum of 1 year of recent adult critical care and emergency department experience.
- Certified in ACLS, BLS, CRT, and NRP.
- Proficient in monitoring arterial blood gases and managing mechanical ventilation.
- Familiar with EPIC charting system and bedside procedures.
- Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to changing clinical environments.
