Therapist – Respiratory Therapist

Job Summary:

Responsible for providing specialized respiratory care to patients across various units, including ICU, ER, medical/surgical, pediatric, and neonatal stabilization. The Respiratory Therapist collaborates with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes through ventilation management, troubleshooting, and patient assessments.

Responsibilities:

• Administer advanced respiratory treatments including aerosol set-up, tracheostomy care, and ventilator management.
• Monitor and interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) to guide patient care decisions.
• Operate and troubleshoot high-flow nasal cannula, BiPAP, CPAP, and other ventilators.
• Provide respiratory care supporting adult, pediatric, and neonatal populations, including stabilization of newborns.
• Deliver medications via invasive and noninvasive ventilation, ensuring safety and proper administration.
• Collaborate with medical staff to perform procedures such as EKGs and COVID-19 patient care as needed.

Qualifications:

• Current NY State Respiratory Therapist license in hand prior to submission.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent adult critical care and emergency department experience.
• Certified in ACLS, BLS, CRT, and NRP.
• Proficient in monitoring arterial blood gases and managing mechanical ventilation.
• Familiar with EPIC charting system and bedside procedures.
• Ability to work independently and adapt quickly to changing clinical environments.
