Overview
Touro Pharmacy invites applications for a 12-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Full Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice.
ResponsibilitiesJob Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Develop an innovative clinical practice in the family medicine clinic at New York Presbyterian and serve as a preceptor and role model for students on introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences
- Provide didactic classroom teaching and recitation instruction on campus
- Provide service on college committees, attend and participate in departmental meetings, and perform other faculty duties as appropriate
- Contribute to new knowledge (research) through research activities, poster presentations, publications, obtaining grants and/or contracts, clinical trials, and other scholarly work
- Provide reports and other documents as requested by Department Chairs, Directors, and Deans

Job Responsibilities:
daily services provided by the pharmacist faculty member and/or students supervised by the faculty member include: - Perform medication reconciliation for patients seen in the clinic
- Perform prospective medication review for patients seen in the clinic
- Administer vaccines (flu, pneumococcal, shingles)
- Counsel patients on medications prescribed by providers on appointment discharge
- Design patient education leaflets for commonly prescribed agents and others as indicated
- Respond to drug information queries
- Perform prospective drug utilization reviews and provide interventions regarding agents prescribed by providers, including review for drug interactions, contraindications, renal dosing, cost-effective medication prescribing, and preventative medication prescribing
- Perform screening tests as indicated and permitted
- Perform pharmacogenetic testing when indicated
- Provide clinical pharmacology and pharmacotherapy education to providers and residents in areas identified by the providers (e.g., antimicrobial spectrum/coverage, indications for anticoagulant discontinuation, duration of action, reversal agents, pain management, renal dose, adjustment of commonly utilized agents, common and important drug-drug and drug-disease interactions)
- Provide timely information and updates on prescribing laws and regulations in NY State
- Detect, report, and manage adverse drug reactions and medication errors
- Develop collaborative drug therapy management protocols
- Review medication storage to assist in meeting regulatory requirements
- Offer a rotation in the pharmacotherapy service to residents
- Lead and collaborate on research endeavors with school faculty and students
- Doctor of Pharmacy required
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) with post-graduate training—PGY-1 and PGY-2 Residency required, or Fellowship or equivalent clinical experience
- Previous academic experience and board certification in an area appropriate for the applicant's training and experience (e.g., BPS and BCACP) are preferred
- Must be eligible for licensure in the state of New York
- Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- High degree of interpersonal competency: professionalism, diplomacy, judgment, and discretion
- Strong commitment to teaching practice and scholarship
- Exemplary interpersonal communication and organization skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- As required

- Able to lift up to 5 lbs.
