NYU Langone Hospital—Long Island is a 591‑bed university‑affiliated medical center that provides comprehensive patient care across most specialties and subspecialties.

Position Summary

Scheduling & Registration Associate – Ambulatory Surgery Center (Manhasset OR). The incumbent schedules appointments in Hospital Information Systems, liaisons with referring physician office staff, answers and filters phone calls, and completes pre‑registration and registration processes. The role creates the first impression of the institution’s services to patients, families, and other external customers and ensures accurate collection of demographic, prescription, medical, and insurance information.

Job Responsibilities
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Schedules patients, calls patients to confirm appointments, locations, and any necessary items or instructions.
  • Communicates with patients, referring physician offices and staff in a helpful, friendly, and professional manner, including use of the Cyracom phone for patients with different preferred first languages.
  • Completes check‑in and registration upon patient arrival, using the RELATE model and informing patients or their representatives of required consents and financial responsibilities.
  • Collects co‑pays or other patient responsibilities per NYU Winthrop Hospital Point of Service collection policies and procedures.
  • Verifies documentation for accuracy, including prescriptions, insurance cards, photo IDs, and thorough patient index searches to avoid duplication of medical record numbers.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of customer service experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication, multitasking, detail orientation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–2 years of scheduling experience in a medical office or healthcare facility setting.
  • Knowledge of software systems such as Epic, Carestream, Soarian, or similar.
Salary

The salary range for this role is $56,876.40 – $63,208.15 annually. Actual salaries depend on experience, education, and hospital need. The stated range does not include bonuses, incentives, or other compensation.
