Location: New York

Subject Matter Expert (SME) needed for conversion of ICD-9 to ICD-10 implementation project with a prestigious Healthcare Organization located in New York. The ICD-10 assessment and implementation will impact all areas of the business units, as the change impacts everything from claims processing to care management, rate setting and reporting.

Job Description

SME will assist with the business and technical elements for the implementation of the ICD-10 specifically in the procedure area of surgery and obstetrics working directly with the project manager. The tracking of many new diagnoses and procedures will require gathering information for the impacted business processes and systems within the Healthcare Organization. Assistance will be needed from the SME to identify the ICD-10 codes that will be replacing the existing ICD-9 codes in the reports, policies and pricing logic.

This individual will need to develop test plans, perform testing, and provide implementation support and outreach to other team members. The SME will be expected to have experience in coding to modify templates to justify specificity for clinical coding. They will be required to provide a high level of communication through messaging providers during this conversion from ICD-9 to ICD-10.

This individual will perform content shifting through segmentation and filtering of information. In summary, the SME must be qualified and experienced with the professional expertise to assist the Healthcare Organization with performing the system design work, analysis, requirements documentation, coding, implementation, and mentoring to implement system changes for the new ICD-10 procedure/diagnosis codes for Medicaid.

Qualifications
  • Experience with MS Word, MS Excel
  • Experience with coding
  • Experience with ICD-9 and ICD-10
  • Healthcare industry experience and undergraduate degree preferred
  • 1-2 year of experience in specified area of expertise
