DescriptionThe Unit Coordinator serves the modalities within the organization. Consistently demonstrates the core values of the unit. Contributes to overall patient satisfaction by delivering outstanding customer service to patients, providers, and others throughout the practice. Performs a wide variety of patient care activities, including working the front desk, determining appropriate studies to schedule, provide prompt and accurate handling of scheduling, registration, and financial processes;
possesses strong verbal and written communication skills including good voice quality, good diction, and articulation.
- Coordinate department schedule between patients, staff, and physician; provide professional customer relations via telephone and in person to solve problems and assist patients and schedule appointments.
- Manage unit schedules daily. Post daily availability within the unit
- Provide accurate weekly and monthly totals of performed with in unit
- Manage physician orders for the unit.
- Monitor schedules for cancelations and no shows
- Ensure all superbills for accuracy daily for all locations. Ensure all scheduled tests have a superbill for services rendered. Ensure accurate waiver is in chart for services rendered.
- Download/scan all reports to EMR
- Open schedules in Cerner based on staffing schedule provided by Unit Supervisor
- Update Cerner schedules based on staffing changes provided by the Unit Supervisor. Communicate to staff via GEMMS all changes and corrections to schedules
- Review and maintain unit schedules for all office locations. Ensure accuracy of orders in chart against the test scheduled. Ensure accurate time slots for testing
- Perform desk responsibilities such as arriving patients for their appointments, mark checked in, exam complete, and collect copays
- Communicates to Dept supervisor and Clinical Manager of scheduling conflicts or back logs
- Creates, manages, and schedules daily physician reader in GEMMS
- All other assigned duties conferred by unit supervisor, Clinical Manager or Administration

Qualifications- High School Diploma
- Must have minimum one year scheduling experience in a healthcare setting.
- Knowledge of insurance/managed care health plans
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Will be required to float to all departments
- Ability to handle multiple schedule changes.
- Able to communicate with physicians, administration, supervisors, and co-workers regarding issues and changes.
Unit Coordinators may spend a great deal of their professional day walking, standing, moving and manipulating equipment, as well as lifting and moving objects, equipment and supplies. It is reasonable to anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day. Bending or twisting of the body may also be a frequent occurrence.
