Communi Kids NY is a full-service speech-language and occupational therapy practice with offices in downtown Summit, New Jersey and on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Led by experienced clinical leaders, the team approaches each child as an individual with unique strengths and needs. The practice serves pediatric and teenage clients with a wide range of concerns, from articulation challenges to Central Auditory Processing and Autism Spectrum Disorders.

As a multidisciplinary facility, Communi Kids NY offers co-treatments and coordinated scheduling for children who benefit from multiple therapies. The team is committed to ongoing professional development to provide evidence-based, family-centered care.

Role Description

The Pediatric Occupational Therapist is a full-time, on-site role based in New York, NY. This role involves evaluating pediatric clients, developing individualized treatment plans, and providing one-on-one occupational therapy sessions focused on functional skills, sensory integration, and daily living activities. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with speech-language pathologists and other team members, documenting treatment progress, and communicating regularly with families and caregivers to support carryover at home and school.

The therapist will participate in team meetings, contribute to interdisciplinary care plans, and help maintain a supportive, child-centered clinical environment.

Qualifications
  • Strong foundation in Occupational Therapy with experience delivering pediatric services in clinical or school-based settings.
  • Skills in Sensory Integration to assess and address sensory processing challenges that impact participation and regulation.
  • Experience in Pediatrics and Early Intervention, including working with infants, toddlers, and school-age children with diverse developmental profiles.
  • Demonstrated ability and comfort Working With Children and families, using a collaborative, culturally responsive, and strengths-based approach.
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program; current or eligible New York State OT license.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based pediatric OT practices, including fine motor, visual-motor, self-care, and play-based interventions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including clear documentation and family education.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and manage a consistent caseload on-site.
  • Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorders, sensory processing disorders, or related neurodevelopmental conditions is beneficial.
  • Certification or training in specialized pediatric approaches (e.g., SIPT, DIR/Floortime, feeding interventions) is a plus.
