Job Description

The Mental Health Assistant Manager (MHAM) is a full-time position based on Rikers Island, each directly reporting to a Director or Deputy Director of Mental Health. The MHAM will assist in supporting Directors and Deputy Directors in the provision of administrative oversight and monitoring of staff providing mental health services in assigned therapeutic housing units (THU) and General Population. THUs include the Program for Accelerated Clinical Effectiveness (PACE), Mental Observation (MO), Supportive Transitional Engagement Program Units (STEP), and Groups for Addictions Treatment Enhancement Units (GATE) units, as well as other specialty THUs.

Mental Health teams delivering care on Mental Health THUs include Mental Health Treatment Aides, Treatment Aide Programming Specialists, Mental Health Clinicians, Psychiatric Providers, and Creative Arts Therapists. Under the supervision of their assigned Director or Deputy Director, the MHAM will provide administrative supervisory support of the above staff. They will also work in collaboration with facility-based supervisors including Treatment Aide Supervisors, Senior MHCs, Clinical Supervisors, Supervising Psychiatrists, and other managers.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Directors, Deputy Directors, and facility leadership in their management of staff, including but not limited to addressing staff timeliness and attendance, or staff failure to follow established workflows and protocols.
  • Coordinate and track the completion of therapeutic programming by Mental Health Staff.
