Cardiac and Vascular Sonographer

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:45 AM–4:45 PM

NYU Langone is seeking a skilled Cardiac/Vascular Sonographer to join the team in Lake Success. This position is responsible for performing a comprehensive range of cardiac and vascular ultrasound examinations
, producing high-quality diagnostic studies, accurately documenting findings, and providing excellent patient care.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in both echocardiography and vascular ultrasound and be comfortable performing routine and specialized studies independently.

• Perform comprehensive cardiac ultrasound examinations, including:
• Transthoracic echocardiograms
• Treadmill stress echocardiograms
• Pharmacological stress echocardiograms
• Agitated saline/bubble studies
• Perform comprehensive vascular ultrasound examinations, including:
• Upper and lower extremity venous duplex studies
• Upper and lower extremity arterial duplex studies
• Abdominal aortic studies
• Renal artery duplex studies
• Mesenteric duplex studies
• Plethysmography
• Perform all examinations in accordance with NYU Langone protocols and applicable IAC and ACR standards.
• Operate highly technical ultrasound equipment to obtain accurate, high-quality diagnostic images and Doppler measurements.
• Determine when additional imaging, measurements, or views are necessary to ensure a complete and diagnostically adequate examination.
• Review and compare current studies with previous cardiac and vascular studies when available to identify changes in patient status.
• Recognize and appropriately communicate significant or potentially urgent abnormalities to physicians or other medical staff.
• Prepare preliminary reports based on completed examinations.
• Accurately document all required images, measurements, findings, and patient information according to departmental procedures.
• Verify patient identity and examination orders prior to beginning procedures.
• Explain procedures clearly to patients and provide appropriate instruction throughout the examination.
• Maintain patient privacy, dignity, safety, and comfort during all procedures.
• Assist with positioning, lifting, pushing, and moving patients and equipment as needed.
• Follow all NYU Langone policies, procedures, safety standards, and infection‑control requirements.
• Assist with maintaining IAC and/or ACR accreditation, including required documentation and submission of studies for accreditation review.
• Complete assigned examinations efficiently while maintaining a high standard of technical and clinical quality.
• Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Associate's degree in a related field or completion of an accredited program in cardiac and vascular ultrasound.
• Must hold one cardiac credential and one vascular credential through one of the following organizations:
• ARDMS: RDCS and RVT
• CCI: RCS and RVS
• Candidates who currently hold one cardiac or vascular credential may be considered with the expectation of obtaining the second credential within one year of hire

• Ability to work independently and effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare environment.

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while performing ultrasound examinations.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, and/or reposition patients and equipment weighing 150+ pounds

• Ability to safely operate and manipulate ultrasound equipment throughout the workday.
