Ten Broeck Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing is now hiring a phlebotomist to join our team! Ten Broeck is a 258-bed facility that is recognized throughout the Hudson Valley for our outstanding delivery of subacute and long-term care.
The Phlebotomist is responsible for drawing blood, tagging each sample and then working closely with the lab to make sure that the proper samples are delivered for each resident. The Phlebotomist will deliver excellent customer service, answer resident questions, act as a resource for resident information and strengthen the relationship between the resident and our facility. The Phlebotomist is also responsible for conducting lab work for employees as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF A PHLEBOTOMIST:
· Collect and tag specimens exactly as outlined in each medical requisition.
· Develop effective collection techniques as they relate to our resident population.
· Properly package each specimen and ensure that every specimen is delivered to the laboratory on time.
· Maintain an organized and clean work area based on state health laws and the guidelines of our medical organization.
· Answer patient questions regarding collection techniques and offer additional resources on the collection process if a resident requests them.
· Always assures safety of the residents.
· Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
· Reports all cases of alleged violations involving mistreatment, neglect or abuse including injuries of unknown sources.
· Performs tasks and responsibilities of assigned shift.
· Assist with resident transportation, if needed, to and from activities.
· Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF A PHLEBOTOMIST:
· Requires ability to utilize computerized medical record system for the purposes of medical record documentation.
PHLEBOTOMIST QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma/GED required
Valid state phlebotomy certification
Experience practicing phlebotomy. Prior long term care experience preferred.
