Job Summary:
Under the general direction of the Director of PET and with the clinical supervision of the reading physician, the technologist performs PET imaging on patients of all ages for the purpose of assisting in the diagnosis of patient illness. The role involves ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and policies governing nuclear medicine, performing imaging procedures, maintaining equipment, and adhering to safety protocols.
The technologist will also interact professionally with medical staff and patients, ensuring high-quality imaging and patient care.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to start peripheral IV access lines.
- Proficiency in injection procedures, including manual unit doses and dose delivery systems (e.g., Medrad Intego).
- Operating knowledge of personal computers, camera and processing workstations, medical charting systems, PACS, and RIS.
- Flexible work schedule, with potential for shifts longer than 8 hours.
- Professional and ethical interaction with attending, resident, and fellow personnel.
- Capability to produce high-quality special imaging with minimal supervision.
- Effective functioning in a team-oriented environment, including training personnel.
- Flexibility, reliability, sound judgment, and initiative.
- Competency in all relevant areas.
- Adherence to SNMMI Quality Standards, including CPR, Infection Control, and Imaging with Anesthesia.
- Ability to process all PET CT Imaging, including Axial Fusion processing and Myeloma Kidney Standard Cut and Coronal Cut.
- Capability to perform quality assurance on PET cameras for X-ray, PET, and monthly constancy.
- Proficiency in QC on dose calibrators (Intego, Atom Lab 500) and wipe counter.
Required Education:
- Completion of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology Program.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
- Registered with the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board
- Nuclear Medicine Tech (NMT) or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) - Nuclear Medicine Technology (N). - Active license from the State of New York Department of Health (Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist License – Diagnostic with Injection Registered).
