Job Overview:We are seeking a New York State Licensed Psychiatrist to lead a dedicated mental health team in a community health clinic serving an underserved population.
This role offers
hybrid flexibility and a Monday–Friday schedule with no on-call responsibilities

As the lead psychiatric provider
, you will oversee clinicians, psychiatric nurse practitioners, psychologists, and other mental health professionals

. You will work with a diverse patient population
, including individuals facing substance use disorders, severe mental illness, trauma, HIV, and LGBTQIA+ health concerns
.
- Conduct initial psychiatric evaluations, mental health screenings, and assessments to determine treatment needs.
- Provide diagnosis-based treatment to adults and families experiencing symptoms of severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI).
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
, including medication management and psychotherapy.
Job Responsibilities:
- Supervise and provide clinical leadership to a multidisciplinary team, including clinicians, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and psychologists.
- Deliver individual and group psychotherapy within an Article 31 Clinic setting.
- Administer comprehensive psychological and diagnostic evaluations
. - Oversee patient mental health and substance use assessments and ensure access to appropriate social services.
- Collaborate with case management, therapists, and primary care teams to create comprehensive care plans.
- Develop partnerships with community organizations and social service agencies to support patient care.
- Participate in peer reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and policy development to enhance behavioral health services.
- Active New York State Medical License and Board Certification in Psychiatry required.
- Experience working with underserved and vulnerable populations
, including individuals with substance use disorders, severe mental illness, trauma, HIV, and LGBTQIA+ concerns
. - Strong understanding of Medicaid and managed care payer guidelines
. - Experience with motivational interviewing and evidence-based interventions
. - Knowledge of harm reduction approaches and trauma-informed care
. - Prior leadership or supervisory experience is a plus
.
