Role DescriptionThe Medical Receptionist role at KAM PRIMARY CARE, P.C. is a full-time, on-site position located in Queens, NY. This role is responsible for greeting patients, checking them in and out, verifying insurance information, and updating patient records in the practice management system. Day-to-day tasks include scheduling and confirming appointments, answering and directing phone calls, managing voicemails, and responding to patient inquiries in a professional manner.
The Medical Receptionist coordinates patient flow, prepares and organizes paperwork, and supports the clinical team by maintaining orderly front-desk operations. This role also involves handling co-pays and basic billing-related questions, protecting patient confidentiality, and maintaining a clean and organized reception area.
- Demonstrated proficiency in appointment scheduling and managing patient flow within a medical office setting.
- Strong phone etiquette skills, including professional communication, call routing, and message taking.
- Experience with receptionist duties such as greeting patients, managing check-in/check-out, and maintaining front-desk organization.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and basic understanding of medical office procedures and documentation.
- Ability to use electronic health records and office software; strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service, empathy, and clear communication with diverse patient populations.
- Reliable time management, ability to multitask in a busy environment, and maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; prior experience in a medical office or healthcare-related front desk role preferred.
