Radiologic Technologist / CT Tech
Overview
Cardiovascular technologists are exposed to a minor level of radiation in the course of some procedures, but the levels are closely monitored and protected against. During surgical procedures, theyspend a great deal of time standing and may be required to help lift and transfer patients, the technologist will also prepare and position patient for the cardiac catheterization for angioplasty,anesthetizing the area of insertion.

Contributes to and participates in the Performance/Quality Improvement activities of the assigned department. Participation in continuous Quality Improvement, adhering to the specific rules and regulations of Bronx Care Health System (a) Safety and Security Policies, (b) Risk Management Incident and Occurrence reporting, (c) Infection Control Standards and (d) Patient and Customer service.
Assists the cardiologist in positioning patients for Percutaneous coronary intervention, Electrophysiology and pacemaker procedures. .
Performs and obtains high quality, high resolution imaging, adequate shielding and collimation essential for fluoroscopic guidance exams on all patient
Responsible for obtaining imaging data in a manner prescribed by the Cardiologist.
Familiarity with fluoroscopic, cardiac and radiographic equipment and other imaging systems.
Documentation in GE MAC Lab and McKesson system
Assessment, treatment and patient care responsibilities are delivered with aknowledge of patient growth and development and are appropriate to the agesof the patients served.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives,quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. Communicates supply shortage /inventory needs to supervisor.
Maintains a clean and safe work area following Infection control standards.
Effectively utilizes the hospital computer system as it pertains to job responsibilities and in accordance to hospital policy.
Attendance and punctuality (Start of work and return to work from breaksand lunch) is maintained in accordance with hospital policy.
QualificationsTwo (2) years’ experience as an Cardiac Cath Tech or X-ray Technologist with minimally one (1) year experience working in an Interventional Radiology or Cardiac Catheterization Suite.
New York State License as an X-ray Technologist, certification to inject perthe requirements of section 89.40 of part 89
American Registry Radiologic Technologist (ARRT Registered)
Graduate from an accredited school of Radiology.
