Physical Therapy Assistant

• Provide direct and indirect patient care in specific treatment, support, and maintenance of rehabilitation services programs
• Provide educational support to students
• Assist the rehabilitation therapist with assessment and supervision of students and volunteers
• Assist with administrative and clerical functions within the rehabilitation services department

• License to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the State of New York
• Associate degree from an approved physical therapist assistant program
• As a condition of continued employment, must obtain and maintain New York State licensure as a Physical Therapist Assistant within six months of appointment
• Degree must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards
• Ability to monitor vital signs, oxygen saturation, symptoms, and patient responses to exercise safely and effectively
• Strong patient education skills related to exercise, breathing techniques, energy conservation, and healthy lifestyle behaviors
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members
• Ability to work collaboratively with physical therapists, nurses, and physicians

Demonstrates expertise in providing patient care and education as a Physical Therapist Assistant, with a strong focus on collaboration with healthcare professionals and effective communication with patients and families.
