Purpose Of Position

Under varying degrees of supervision, identifies qualified Medicare participants and educates them as to the benefits of selecting Metro Plus as a managed care provider. Achieves predetermined monthly enrollments based on regularly updated goals and objectives, documents consumer contracts, and processes grievances. Moreover, maintains a positive public relations presence within the community, provider agencies, and with city and state regulatory agencies.

Additionally, may provide training of and/or supervision to subordinate staff. There are three Assignment Levels within this class of positions; all personnel perform related work.

Duties & Responsibilities Level I Under Supervision, Performs The Following Typical Tasks
  • Implements methods, activities and action plans necessary to achieve daily, weekly and monthly objectives.
  • Presents clear and accurate information regarding health plan to eligible recipients and community-at-large.
  • Performs group and individual presentations for purpose of educating and enrolling qualified participants in a variety of arenas including but not limited to senior centers, provider sites, churches, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, etc.
  • Provides all benefit/service related information to members, applicants, and providers.
  • Performs telemarketing activities as appropriate for purposes of enrollment and follow-up activity.
  • Processes all member demographic changes.
  • Maintains accurate documentation related to enrollment and field activities.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled sales/marketing meetings as required.
  • Performs other related tasks as directed.
Level II Under Supervision, With Latitude For Independent Judgment And Decision Making, Performs The Work Of Assignment Level I At a Higher Level, And/or The Following Typical Tasks
  • May act as preceptor to subordinate Enrollment Sales Representatives to facilitate their understanding of Metro Plus objectives, operations and site specific information.
  • Implements and monitors appropriate methods, activities and action plans necessary to regularly achieve accelerated predetermined enrollment objectives.
  • Ensures appropriate and accurate documentation of call center plan enrollments and field activities.
  • Provides assistance and facilitates communications to sales/customer services management team.
  • Participates in bi-weekly and monthly sales/marketing meetings.
  • Performs related duties as directed.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Possession of a valid Life/Accident / Health Insurance Agent License issued by the New York State Insurance Department; and
  • Possession of a High School diploma or evidence of having satisfactorily passed a High School Equivalency Program; and,
  • Satisfactory completion of training and orientation administered by MHP personnel; and,
  • One year of experience in direct consumer contact, sales and/or social services; or, A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of a second language may be required.
For Appointment To Level II
  • One year of experience in Assignment Level I or one additional year of experience as described above.
For Appointment To Level III
  • One year of experience in Assignment Level II or two additional years of experience as described above.
Special Notes

Possession of a valid Life/Accident / Health Insurance Agent License issued by the New York State Insurance Department must be maintained in order to remain in this position. Possession of a valid New York State Drivers License may be required. The use of this position is restricted to Metro Plus only.
