Milieu Supervisor
PURPOSE:
The Mishkon Division provides safe, person-centered residential support for adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities, emphasizing community integration and family collaboration through an Orthodox Jewish lens. The overnight & weekend Milieu Supervisor provides operational oversight across assigned Mishkon ICF/IRA residences during overnight, weekend, and Jewish holiday shifts. The supervisor supports, supervises, directs and train overnight & weekend staff, in order to ensure adherence to individual supervision plans, timely documentation, environmental safety, emergency preparedness, and escalation of clinical, incident, staffing, or regulatory concerns.
POSITION OVERVIEW:The overnight & weekend Milieu Supervisor oversees ICF/IRA operations during overnight (10:30PM-6:30AM), weekend, and Jewish holiday shift. They monitor shift operations for adherence to OPWDD/DOH/ agency requirements, policies, and individual plans across Jewish Boards' IRAs and ICF apartments, traveling between multiple locations each shift. Provides onsite, in person supervision and support to overnight and weekend staff. Ensures timely escalation to clinical, staffing, safety, incident and regulatory concerns.
In the Residence Manager's absence, the Supervisor provided operational oversight during assigned shift.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Shift Supervision, Staffing & Coverage
- Confirm staffing ratios are met.
- Cover callouts per IRA/ICF protocol and notify management of coverage plans.
- Provide ongoing supervision, direction, and support to staff throughout the shift.
- Train staff as requested.
- Ensure staff are performing their responsibilities, including care, delegated plans of nursing, and levels of supervision, in compliance with OPWDD/DOH/agency regulations and protocols.
- Inspect ICF/IRA for cleanliness, safety, and functioning fire/emergency systems; escalade maintenance issues.
- Monitor the safe use and condition of adaptive equipment, including wheelchair and Hoyer lifts.
- Ensure treatment plans (IPP/BSP) are followed accurately and consistently by staff.
- Support staff during any behavioral and/or medical crisis.
- Review evacuation procedures and individual emergency needs with staff.
- Observe and train staff on monthly overnight fire drills.
- Ensure timely, accurate completion of required HER documentation (shift summaries, ABC data, BM and sleep logs) and reporting, including shift email reports.
- Ensure all regulations, agency procedures, and notification requirements for incident management are followed, with complete and timely documentation.
- Complete the Overnight Shift Observation Form each shift and notify management/supervisor for any immediate concerns.
- Observe medication administration practices according to status as an AMAP and within agency protocols.
- Report medication concerns, omissions, discrepancies or documentation issues to nursing and supervisory staff.
- Conduct medication cart review for compliance.
- Train staff on treatment plans implementation and overnight protocols (seizure, positioning, chocking/aspiration, medication, PICA, evacuation, incident reporting, etc.) and as requested by supervisor.
- Supports staff with all regulations, agency policy and procedures and audit preparations and follow-ups.
- Ensure kosher compliance and observance of Jewish customs and laws.
