Broome is located 2,240km north of Perth and has a permanent population of 14,436. Broome has a deep history in the pearling industry, spanning back to the 1800’s, with memorials throughout the town to commemorate those lost in the early years of pearling. Cable Beach is also a must-see, being named in honour of the Java-to-Australia undersea telegraph cable that reaches shore there. You can explore its beautiful scenery with a bit of 4WDing at low tide, or you can even take a camel ride every day at sunset!

Roebuck Bay is known as one of the most beautiful beaches that surrounds Broome, with its “Staircase to the moon” phenomenon drawing food and craft markets each time it occurs. The combination of a receding tide and rising moon create a natural phenomenon that can only be described as breath-taking.

KAMS is seeking a passionate, culturally informed and highly organised Kimberley Men’s Health Coordinator to lead the development, coordination and implementation of initiatives that improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal men across the Kimberley.

Based in Broome, this strategic role will work across KAMS and in partnership with Member Services, Aboriginal communities, the Kimberley Regional Aboriginal Men’s Health Sub-Committee (KRAMHS) and external partners to strengthen and progress men’s health priorities across the region.

The Coordinator will lead the development and implementation of the KRAMHS Health Strategy, annual work plans and priority initiatives, ensuring activities are aligned with the KRAMHS Strategic Plan and responsive to the needs and priorities identified by Aboriginal men and communities.

A key component of the role will include building strong relationships and supporting meaningful consultation and engagement with Aboriginal men, including those living in remote communities. The position will contribute to the development of culturally safe, innovative and community-driven approaches to men's health activities and provide first hand knowledge obtained through community engagement on encouraging Aboriginal men to adopt a proactive mindset in being the drivers of health and wellbeing improvements for themselves and their families.

The role will also provide strategic coordination and secretariat support to the Kimberley Regional Aboriginal Men’s Health Sub Committee, ensuring members are informed of planned initiatives, priorities and opportunities, and supporting effective collaboration and implementation across the region.

The Coordinator will contribute to health promotion and wellbeing initiatives, funding opportunities, health data and reporting, community events, workforce development, project management, evaluation & continuous improvement and supporting the ongoing identification of Kimberley Aboriginal men’s health priorities.
