Respiratory Therapist, Pulmonary / Respiratory Care
We are seeking an experienced Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to support a Pulmonary Function Test (PFT) Laboratory
. This position focuses on diagnostic pulmonary testing, including spirometry, lung volume measurements, and diffusing capacity testing.
PFT experience/certification is strongly preferred.
- Perform routine and advanced respiratory therapy diagnostic procedures.
- Conduct Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs), including:
- Diffusing capacity testing
- Exhaled breath testing
- Stress testing
- Perform arterial punctures and obtain arterial blood gas (ABG) samples when required.
- Interpret ABG results and other pulmonary diagnostic data.
- Assess the appropriateness and effectiveness of respiratory therapy procedures.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain respiratory therapy and pulmonary function equipment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of respiratory equipment, its clinical applications, limitations, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Document procedures, patient information, test results, and care accurately.
- Communicate technical information clearly to physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in department education, safety programs, and quality initiatives.
- Provide instruction and technical guidance to staff when requested.
- Maintain compliance with departmental policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, sound judgment, and strong customer-service skills.
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential through NBRC
- Required - Current New York State Respiratory Therapist license
- Required - BLS/BCLS certification
- Required - Minimum 1 year of hospital-based respiratory therapy experience required.
- Strong knowledge of respiratory therapy equipment and clinical applications.
- Knowledge of cardiopulmonary pathophysiology and respiratory treatment modalities.
- Ability to interpret abnormal laboratory values and recommend appropriate action.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
- Shift is 7.5 hrs/day Mon
- Fri (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM), 37.5 hrs/week - Location is Flushing, NY 11355
- Pay Range for Locals: $60 - $64 Hourly
- Pay Range for Travelers: $2,750 - $2,800 Weekly
