OverviewThe Surf Lodge is seeking a hands‑on, dynamic Hotel General Manager to oversee all aspects of operations at our 21‑key seasonal hotel in Montauk, NY. This is a rare opportunity to lead a boutique property with global recognition — where luxury hospitality meets laid‑back coastal living.
You will be responsible for ensuring exceptional guest experiences, managing seasonal staff, and driving operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is an experienced hotelier with a passion for service, strong leadership skills, and the ability to operate at the fast pace of a high‑profile summer destination.
Responsibilities- Oversee daily operations of the 21‑key boutique hotel, including front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and guest services
- Hire, train, and manage seasonal staff — fostering a culture of professionalism and hospitality
- Ensure exceptional service standards and personalized guest experiences
- Manage budgets, P&L reporting, vendor relations, and supply ordering
- Collaborate with ownership and other departments (restaurant, events, brand) to align operations with broader business goals
- Handle guest issues with grace, discretion, and resolution‑driven mindset
- Maintain property condition and ensure readiness for peak‑season occupancy
- 3–5 years experience as a Hotel GM or senior hospitality management role
- Proven ability to manage small teams and boutique‑scale operations
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Tech‑savvy with experience in PMS systems
- Flexible, solution‑oriented, and calm under pressure
- Strong understanding of seasonal hospitality, especially in high‑demand leisure markets
- Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as required during the season
- Lead one of the most recognized boutique hotel properties in the Northeast
