Job Description & How to Apply Below
Location: New York

ONTHEMARC is a contemporary, full-service catering company known for creating memorable, well-executed events where great food and great service always come first. Founded in 2006 by Chef Marc Weber out of his parents’ kitchen, with nothing but a station wagon and a simple goal to make people happy by exceeding expectations, ONTHEMARC has grown into one of the region’s most respected hospitality brands.

Nearly 20 years later, we operate out of a 15,000-square-foot industrial kitchen and office space and service more than a dozen exclusive venues across Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and beyond. Our exceptional team of over 40 full-time employees and 600 part-time staff brings our signature blend of culinary excellence, seamless service, and creativity to every event — from intimate dinners to large-scale galas and corporate functions.

Our culture is grounded in hospitality, humility, and excellence. We believe great work starts with great people: those who care deeply, stay calm under pressure, communicate directly, and show up for one another. We lead with warmth and professionalism, move fast, adapt often, and take pride in doing things the right way.

At ONTHEMARC, we’re not just building events — we’re building experiences that connect people, celebrate milestones, and raise the standard for what hospitality can be.

If you’re passionate, hardworking, and thrive in a collaborative, high-energy environment, there’s a place for you here.

Role

The Event Server is responsible for delivering smooth, high-quality catered event service — from setup through breakdown — while maintaining clean, organized guest and service areas. This role reports to the Event Captain.

Responsibilities Event Setup & Breakdown
  • Set up event spaces, including tables, chairs, buffets, linens, silverware, glassware, china, and other rentals and décor.
  • Break down event spaces efficiently, ensuring all rentals, décor, and service items are properly sorted and packed.
  • Assist with loading and unloading catering trucks and moving equipment safely.
Guest Service & Hospitality
  • Execute table service meals, including wine and coffee service, with attention to timing and presentation.
  • Replenish food and beverage stations throughout events to maintain a consistent guest experience.
  • Provide guests with accurate, detailed information on food and beverage offerings.
  • Respond to guest needs in a polite, friendly manner and escalates requests appropriately.
Cleanliness, Organization & Side Work
  • Maintain clean, neat, and organized buffets and beverage stations throughout service.
  • Clean dining rooms and event spaces during and after events, minimizing trash and keeping areas guest-ready.
  • Perform side work, including polishing silverware and glassware, filling condiments, and stocking coffee service items.
  • Provide ongoing cleaning and organizational support during catered events to keep service flowing smoothly.
Communication, Safety & Team Support
  • Communicate guest requests clearly and promptly to management and event leads during service.
  • Follow work rules, safety guidelines, and safe lifting/handling practices to support a safe work environment.
  • Support event service and logistics needs as directed by catering management and lead staff.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Experienced in food service, catering, hospitality, or event operations.
  • Consistently polite, professional, and guest-focused in fast-paced environments.
  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally, including using correct grammar and complete information.
  • Comfortable following detailed instructions and executing service steps accurately.
  • Flexible and reliable with an ever-changing schedule (nights, weekends, holidays as needed).
  • Calm under pressure and able to maintain composure during high-volume moments.
  • Energized by teamwork and willing to do what’s needed to support the event (“do whatever it takes” mindset).
  • Passionate about food, hospitality, and delivering excellent service.
What Success Looks Like
  • Events are set up accurately and on time, with all rentals and service items placed correctly.
  • Guests experience attentive, polished service—seamless wine and coffee service—with minimal delays.
  • Buffets and beverage stations stay stocked, clean, and organized throughout the event.
  • Dining and service areas remain tidy and guest-ready, with trash controlled and work areas organized.
  • Customer questions are answered confidently and accurately, with issues escalated appropriately.
  • The team communicates effectively, follows safety guidelines, and completes breakdown efficiently with minimal loss or damage.
