Lead Steward - Waldorf Astoria

Waldorf Astoria New York is seeking a Lead Steward to support Food and Beverage operations with a focus on cleanliness, organization, and teamwork. Responsibilities and qualifications are listed below.

Various – must be available weekdays, weekends, holidays, and overnights, especially during busy periods.

$33.3532 – $44.4709 per hour based on specialized experience and location.

This position is part of the Local 6 Union which requires complete open availability. Hours and schedule are based on seniority and business needs; may be minimal until seniority is established.

As a Lead Steward, you will guide the stewarding team, maintain clean and organized back‑of‑house areas, manage inventory, support banquet and restaurant functions, train staff, and ensure equipment is operational.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead, support, and guide stewarding team for timely transportation and cleaning of utensils, serviceware, and equipment.
• Oversee cleaning and maintenance of work areas and surrounding spaces, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Maintain inventory levels for food and beverage departments.
• Ensure timely delivery of food and equipment for all functions as specified in Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
• Schedule and assign daily tasks for the stewarding team.
• Provide ongoing training and development for team members.
• Monitor and evaluate team performance, providing feedback and coaching.
• Collaborate with culinary and front‑of‑house teams to support seamless event execution.
• Ensure all equipment is in proper working order, conducting routine checks and coordinating repairs or replacements.

• Fluency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
