Position OverviewThe Dock Attendant is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service while supporting the daily operations of the South Seas Marina. This position serves as the first point of contact for marina guests, boaters, anglers, and charter captains, ensuring a safe, welcoming, and well‑maintained marina environment. The Dock Attendant assists with vessel arrivals and departures, fueling operations, dock safety, marina cleanliness, and guest services while creating memorable experiences that reflect the South Seas hospitality culture.
Key Responsibilities Guest Service & Hospitality- Welcome guests, marina members, transient boaters, and charter guests with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Assist boaters with docking, securing vessels, and departure procedures.
- Provide information regarding marina services, resort amenities, fishing charters, water activities, dining, and local attractions.
- Deliver exceptional service by anticipating guest needs and resolving concerns promptly.
- Build positive relationships with returning boaters and marina guests.
- Assist with daily docking and undocking of vessels.
- Handle dock lines safely and efficiently.
- Monitor marina slips for cleanliness, organization, and safety.
- Conduct routine inspections of docks, pedestals, electrical hookups, water connections, and marina equipment.
- Assist with fueling vessels while following all environmental and safety procedures.
- Maintain fuel dock records and complete required documentation.
- Report maintenance issues or safety hazards immediately.
- Maintain a safe dock environment for guests, vessels, and team members.
- Enforce marina rules and operating procedures in a courteous and professional manner.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, severe weather, fuel spills, or other incidents following established emergency procedures.
- Maintain knowledge of boating safety practices and marina operating standards.
- Assist with environmental compliance and spill prevention procedures.
- Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of docks, walkways, fuel dock, marina facilities, and surrounding areas.
- Remove debris, clean equipment, empty trash receptacles, and ensure the marina remains guest‑ready throughout the day.
- Assist with maintaining dock carts, hoses, and marina equipment.
- Work closely with Marina leadership, Recreation, Security, Engineering, and other resort departments to ensure seamless guest experiences.
- Support special marina events, fishing tournaments, holiday activities, and resort programming as needed.
- Assist with inventory and stocking marina supplies.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license; a motor vehicle background check will be completed.
- Previous marina, boating, hospitality, recreation, or customer service experience preferred.
- Basic boating knowledge strongly preferred.
- Ability to safely handle dock lines and assist vessels in varying weather conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure while maintaining excellent guest service.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain upon hire.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, and evenings.
- Frequently work outdoors in Florida heat, humidity, sun, rain, and varying weather conditions.
