Position Overview

South Seas Resort seeks a professional, service‑driven On‑Call Banquet Captain. The role leads banquet and catered events, ensuring seamless execution from setup through breakdown while maintaining the resort’s high standards of hospitality, presentation, and service.

Essential Responsibilities Event Leadership
  • Lead banquet service staff during assigned events, ensuring efficient execution and exceptional guest service.
  • Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) with the team prior to each event to ensure complete understanding of event requirements.
  • Direct event setup, service execution, and breakdown according to resort standards.
  • Conduct pre‑shift meetings to communicate event details, service expectations, safety procedures, and assignments.
  • Monitor event flow and proactively adjust staffing or service as needed.
  • Ensure all banquet spaces are properly prepared, clean, organized, and presentation‑ready.
Guest Experience
  • Serve as the primary on‑site leader for banquet guests, meeting planners, wedding clients, and event hosts during assigned events.
  • Resolve guest concerns professionally and promptly while maintaining a positive guest experience.
  • Maintain visible floor presence throughout events to ensure attentive, personalized service.
  • Ensure food and beverage presentation meets South Seas Resort quality standards.
Team Leadership
  • Supervise and motivate banquet servers, bartenders, banquet house persons, and support staff during assigned shifts.
  • Coach team members on service standards, professionalism, and guest engagement.
  • Assist with training new banquet associates on service procedures and event standards.
  • Promote teamwork, communication, and accountability throughout each event.
Operational Excellence
  • Ensure compliance with all food safety, sanitation, responsible alcohol service, and workplace safety standards.
  • Verify proper room setups, table configurations, linens, décor placement, audiovisual readiness, and event timelines.
  • Coordinate closely with Culinary to ensure timely food delivery and service execution.
  • Monitor inventory of banquet supplies and communicate operational needs to leadership.
  • Assist with post‑event inspections and ensure banquet spaces are reset and prepared for future functions.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 2 years of banquet leadership, banquet captain, restaurant leadership, or hospitality supervisory experience preferred.
  • Resort, hotel, country club, convention center, or luxury hospitality experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of banquet service styles, food and beverage operations, and event execution.
  • Ability to lead teams in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Professional appearance and guest‑focused demeanor.
  • Ability to remain calm and adaptable in changing event environments.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk for extended periods throughout shifts.
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, push, pull, and move banquet equipment and supplies.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varied hours based on resort event schedules.
Compensation

$15.00 – $15.00 per hour.
