Position Summary

The Linen Porter is responsible for ensuring all allocated areas are stocked, organized, and cleaned to Firmdale's exceptional standards. This role assists Room Attendants and the wider Housekeeping team with specific departmental tasks, and requires a hands-on, detail-oriented team player who takes pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and well-stocked hotel environment.

Key Responsibilities Stock & Linen Management
  • Receive incoming deliveries and store them correctly.
  • Distribute and maintain stock levels in all linen closets.
  • Sort and separate dirty linen for collection by the Laundry Company.
  • Deliver extra beds, baby cots, and other guest-requested items to rooms.
  • Carry out daily duties as directed by the Head Housekeeper, Assistant Housekeeper, and/or Floor Manager.
Cleaning & Guest Areas
  • Assist Room Attendants in maintaining guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas to 5-star standards.
  • Carry out spring cleaning of all areas of the hotel as directed by the Head Housekeeper.
  • Carry out high dusting.
  • Clean and vacuum allocated areas.
  • Move furniture as directed.
  • Shampoo carpets and upholstery as directed.
  • Keep corridors, stairways, and all public and working areas clean and tidy at all times.
Communication & Relationships
  • Promptly answer the designated pager and maintain good communication with supervisor.
  • Communicate with the housekeeping management team regarding daily duties to be completed and when they are done.
  • Work as part of a team, always supporting other members of the Housekeeping staff.
  • Inform the Floor Manager immediately of any lost property items found.
  • Report immediately any damages or maintenance issues to the Floor Manager.
  • React promptly and respond to any guest requests, or refer them if necessary.

Health, Safety & Security
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and hazard-free workplace.
  • Have a good understanding of Health and Safety regulations, and fire and emergency procedures.
  • Be knowledgeable of housekeeping equipment and its proper use.
  • Follow security procedures to protect both guest and hotel property.
  • Ensure security of any assigned guest room keys and pager.
  • Understand the DND procedure.
  • Be knowledgeable of housekeeping etiquette as per Firmdale's SOPs.
  • Have a good understanding of Firmdale's customer service, being polite and deferential to guests at all times.
  • Have a thorough knowledge of the hotel and the company.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duty to assist in the smooth running of the company.
Requirements & Qualifications
  • Ability to bend, twist, push, and pull furniture.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to work safely with cleaning chemicals and materials.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, using systems to update room status.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and personal appearance consistent with uniform standards at all times.

Experience / Education
  • 2+ years of experience cleaning in a hospitality and/or residential setting, or a strong passion for cleaning with excellent attention to detail.
