Job Description:

We are looking for a confident, detail-oriented, and hospitality-driven Event Captain to join our growing Events team. This is a per diem position reporting directly to the Head of Event Sales, and is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-standard environment and wants to be part of building something special from the ground up.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Events team on the floor during private events, overseeing operations from setup through breakdown.
  • Ensure all events are executed to the highest standards of service, consistent with the Firmdale Hotels brand.
  • Conduct pre-event inspections to ensure event spaces, equipment, and service stations are fully prepared.
  • Supervise event setup, service, and breakdown, ensuring smooth execution and attention to detail.
  • Manage event inventory and par levels, ensuring all supplies and equipment are organized and event-ready.
  • Handle last-minute changes with confidence while maintaining a seamless guest experience.
  • Communicate effectively with Events Sales, Culinary, Stewarding, Housekeeping, Engineering, and Food & Beverage teams to ensure flawless event execution.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during events, anticipating guest needs and resolving concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Coach and support team members to maintain consistency, accountability, and exceptional service standards.
  • Complete post-event responsibilities, including inventory reconciliation, room reset, and reporting maintenance or operational issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Events department and hotel operations.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on event operations experience, preferably in a supervisory or Captain role within a luxury hotel, private dining, banquet, or upscale hospitality environment.
  • A confident and inspiring leader who provides clear direction, motivates the team, and remains calm and composed in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to last-minute changes while maintaining professionalism, composure, and a guest-focused mindset.
  • Highly self-motivated, disciplined, and organized, with the ability to take full ownership of responsibilities and perform effectively with minimal supervision.
  • A genuine passion for hospitality and a commitment to delivering exceptional, memorable guest experiences.
  • Strong understanding of banquet operations, including event setup standards, service sequence, room configurations, and inventory management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
  • Flexible availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules based on business needs.
