Job SummaryThe Banquet Captain is responsible for leading the banquet service team in executing exceptional dining experiences for events, conferences, and special functions. This role involves supervising the banquet team, ensuring high standards of service, maintaining a smooth flow of events, and providing leadership to ensure guest satisfaction. The Banquet Captain will collaborate closely with the kitchen and event planning teams to ensure seamless service delivery and assist with event setup, service, and breakdown.
EssentialJob Duties and Responsibilities
- Event Supervision & Coordination:
- Lead and coordinate the banquet service team to ensure smooth and efficient service throughout events, from setup to teardown.
- Liaise with event coordinators, clients, and other departments to ensure all event requirements are met, including special requests, dietary restrictions, and customized setups.
- Supervise the setup and breakdown of banquet rooms, ensuring that seating arrangements, decor, and table settings meet event specifications and quality standards.
- Oversee the timely delivery of food and beverage to guests, ensuring adherence to the established service schedule.
- Supervise and motivate the banquet servers and bartenders, ensuring they provide excellent guest service and maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
- Train and mentor new banquet staff on proper service techniques, event procedures, and customer service standards.
- Delegate tasks to banquet staff during events, ensuring efficient task completion and guest satisfaction.
- Provide on-the-job guidance, feedback, and support to ensure the team’s success and compliance with hotel service standards.
- Guest Service & Satisfaction:
- Ensure all guests receive prompt, professional, and courteous service throughout the event, addressing any guest concerns or special requests immediately and appropriately.
- Monitor the banquet room for guest needs, ensuring that all tables are properly serviced, drinks are refilled, and the environment is clean and comfortable.
- Handle guest feedback and resolve any service issues or complaints, striving for a quick resolution that ensures guest satisfaction.
- Food & Beverage Management:
- Ensure the proper presentation and quality of food and beverages served during the event, in alignment with hotel standards.
- Coordinate with the kitchen team to ensure that food orders are correctly prepared and delivered in a timely manner.
- Monitor the timing of courses during meals to ensure they are served at the correct temperature and in the appropriate order.
- Operational Efficiency & Safety:
- Ensure all safety protocols, including food safety and sanitation practices, are followed by the team during event setup, service, and breakdown.
- Maintain proper inventory and control of banquet supplies, such as linen, glassware, silverware, and table settings.
- Ensure that all banquet equipment is properly maintained and cleaned after use, including chafing dishes, serving trays, and other dining tools.
- Event Setup & Breakdown:
- Assist with the setup of banquet rooms according to client specifications, ensuring all furniture, decor, and audio-visual equipment is properly arranged.
- Ensure that banquet rooms are cleared and cleaned quickly and efficiently after events, leaving them ready for the next function.
- Collaboration with Other Departments:
- Work closely with the catering, kitchen, and event planning teams to ensure a seamless experience for clients and guests.
- Communicate with the Banquet Manager or Event Coordinator regarding event changes, timelines, and staffing needs to ensure everything is executed as planned.
