We are seeking an experienced, hands-on, and highly organized Housekeeping Manager to support the leadership and daily operations of the Housekeeping Department at a boutique hotel.
The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, guest service, and operational efficiency throughout the hotel. This position oversees the daily activities of Room Attendants, Housepersons, Laundry Attendants, and other housekeeping team members while working closely with Front Office, Engineering, Food & Beverage, and other hotel departments. This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership position. The Housekeeping Manager is expected to lead by example, maintain a strong presence throughout the hotel, actively inspect guest rooms and public areas, respond quickly to operational and guest-service issues, and ensure that the Housekeeping Department consistently meets hotel standards.
The ideal candidate is an experienced hospitality professional who understands hotel housekeeping operations, room-status management, laundry operations, guest service, labor management, union employment environment, and the importance of maintaining consistent standards in a fast-paced hotel environment. The Housekeeping Manager must be highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable balancing employee supervision, room inspections, administrative responsibilities, guest requests, departmental reporting, and coordination with other hotel departments.
CompensationThe annual salary range for this position is $68,000 - $70,000, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and demonstrated expertise.
ClassificationThis is an exempt, salaried management position. In accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), employees in this position are not eligible for overtime compensation.

Housekeeping Operations & Leadership- Assist the Director of Housekeeping with daily operations and ensure department standards are consistently met.
- Conduct daily rounds, monitor assignments and attendance, and communicate operational updates.
- Lead by example and maintain a professional, service-focused environment.
- Review daily room reports, staffing needs, workloads, and priorities.
- Inspect guest rooms for cleanliness, condition, and readiness.
- Coordinate room status and maintenance needs with Front Office and Engineering.
- Ensure VIP rooms, show rooms, OOO/DND rooms, and special requests are properly addressed.
- Maintain clear communication with Front Office, Engineering, and other departments regarding room readiness and guest requests.
- Coordinate maintenance concerns, guest requests, tray removal, and shift handoffs.
- Escalate unresolved issues to the appropriate manager or MOD.
- Ensure guest and back-of-house areas remain clean and properly maintained.
- Oversee Housepersons and cleanliness of guest floors, lobby, elevators, hallways, bathrooms, fitness/business areas, employee areas, luggage and room-service areas, laundry, housekeeping office, basement, and exterior areas.
- Oversee laundry operations, linen inventory, carts, equipment, and department procedures.
- Ensure proper handling and documentation of dry cleaning and guest laundry.
- Supervise Room Attendants, Housepersons, and Laundry Attendants in accordance with union guidelines.
- Monitor productivity, quality, attendance, uniforms, conduct, and guest service.
- Provide coaching and address performance concerns appropriately.
- Assist with staffing and scheduling based on occupancy and operational needs.
- Monitor productivity, overtime, attendance, and labor costs while following union requirements.
- Maintain accurate documentation and support departmental controls.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest requests, complaints, and service recovery needs.
- Follow up to ensure issues are resolved and maintain courteous communication with guests and colleagues.
- Follow and enforce hotel safety, cleanliness, confidentiality, and operating standards.
- Identify and report hazards, equipment concerns, and other operational issues.
- Support investigations and compliance with hotel policies.
- 2–3 years of hotel housekeeping experience; supervisory experience preferred.
- NYC union hotel experience preferred.
