The Assistant Banquet Maître d’ supports the execution of exceptional front-of-house service for weddings, social events, and corporate functions. This role assists in coordinating guest flow, supervising service staff, and maintaining Russo’s Hospitality Group service standards throughout all phases of banquet event
Essential Duties & Responsibilities Event Support & Guest Experience Welcome and assist guests with professionalism and hospitality
Support seating coordination and guest flow management
Respond promptly and courteously to guest needs
Assist with VIP accommodation and personalized service elements
Maintain a polished and guest-focused banquet environment
Operational Execution Coordinate and supervise all aspects of dining room operations, including table settings, decorations, and overall ambiance
Oversee table assignments, seating arrangements, and reservation management to ensure efficient guest flow Ensure venues (Main Dining, crew mess) are set up and maintained according to company standards
Support review and implementation of Banquet Event Orders Assist with pre-event inspections of room setup and service readiness
Help coordinate service pacing during all phases of events
Monitor banquet floor activity and communicate service needs
Support simultaneous and high-volume event operations
Maintain event service check in for each event
Lead and organize Service Orientation Team Support & Supervision Assist in directing hosts and service staff during events
Reinforce service standards, etiquette, and presentation expectations
Participate in pre-event briefings and post-event reviews
Provide real-time operational support to banquet leadership
Assist in managing restaurant staff (servers, busboys, hosts/hostesses) and monitor performance, providing feedback and addressing issues
Train and mentor new staff, ensuring they understand service standards, protocols, and safety procedures
Compliance & Administrative Support Follow company policies and New York hospitality service standards
Document service concerns and communicate operational feedback
Support onboarding and training initiatives as assigned
Qualifications1–3 years of hospitality or banquet front-of-house experience
Strong communication and guest service skills
Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced event environments
Professional appearance and demeanor
Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays
