At the Double Tree by Hilton New York – LaGuardia Airport, we believe a spotless, well-run property starts with strong housekeeping leadership. We're looking for a Director of Housekeeping who can lead with precision, build strong partnerships, and ensure every guest room and public space reflects our commitment to excellence.
This is a unique leadership opportunity: our housekeeping services are delivered through a trusted third-party contract partner, and you'll serve as the driving force behind that partnership - holding it accountable for quality, staffing, and performance while shaping the guest experience from behind the scenes.
About the RoleAs Director of Housekeeping, you'll oversee all housekeeping and laundry operations, working closely with our contract partner's on-site leadership to ensure guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces consistently meet Double Tree and Hilton brand standards. You'll manage budgets, inventory, and vendor relationships, while driving a culture of accountability and continuous improvement across every shift.
What You'll Do- Oversee daily housekeeping and laundry operations in partnership with our contract company's on-site management
- Communicate occupancy forecasts, room priorities, and service expectations to ensure appropriate staffing
- Conduct room inspections, public area checks, and back-of-house walkthroughs to ensure 100% compliance with brand cleanliness standards
- Coordinate with the Front Office team via the PMS to manage real-time room priorities and VIP needs
- Monitor real-time guest feedback through the Hilton Stay Experience Platform, turning insights into actionable priorities
- Participate in daily shift meetings with contract leadership to align on priorities and safety protocols
- Serve as the hotel's primary point of contact with the housekeeping contract company, monitoring performance against the service agreement
- Document service deficiencies and elevate concerns for resolution; conduct regular business reviews covering quality, guest satisfaction, and invoice accuracy
- Manage departmental budget, including contracted labor, linen, amenities, and chemical expenses
- Conduct monthly physical inventories of linen, terry, amenities, and chemicals
- Order and track departmental supplies and manage vendor relationships
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, Safety Data Sheets, and blood borne pathogen standards
- Submit and track maintenance work orders for room damages and deep-cleaning needs
- Administer the lost-and-found program and ensure proper key control procedures are followed
- Proven experience in hotel housekeeping leadership, ideally with experience managing third-party contract labor
- Strong vendor/contract management skills, with the ability to hold partners accountable to service standards
- Budget management experience, including invoice reconciliation and cost control
- Working knowledge of Property Management Systems (PMS)
- Familiarity with OSHA regulations and workplace safety standards
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to brand and cleanliness standards
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the property for extended periods (up to 8 hours)
- Ability to lift/move up to 30 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally
- Ability to push/pull housekeeping and laundry carts
- Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required by hotel operations
