Description
The Department of Human Resources is seeking a Program Specialist II to support the Senior Manger III for certified staffing with daily administrative and operational functions of the office. The successful candidate will also assist in coordinating the organization of annual staff events and ongoing projects in the department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assisting in the hiring of Certified Staff, Virtual Teachers and Casual Employees
- Reviewing reduced/extended probationary periods as per education law and noting transaction on a Personnel Actions Report (PAR)
- Managing Powers Apps Change of Status (COS), Request for Personnel (RFP), and Absence Request submissions for certified staff Agency wide
- Preparing expiring certification reports and notices
- Managing transfer request applications, determinations, correspondence
- Preparing, reviewing, editing, and posting advertising for certified positions for OLAS, Nassau BOCES website, and Frontline Recruiting & Hiring for all departments
- Reviewing and approving courses submitted by all staff in Frontline Professional Growth for purposes of salary adjustment, professional growth, CTLE hours
- Monitoring tenure eligibility dates for probationary certified staff, creating tenure recommendation forms, tracking forms through approval process, completing COS for approved tenure, reviewing tenure transactions on PAR
- Tracking and adjusting tenure and seniority dates for certified staff as needed
- Assisting with special projects and annual events as needed
- New York State Education Department (NYSED) Professional Teacher Certification
- NYSED Certification:
School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA) is preferred - Three or more years of teaching and/or administrative experience
- Experience with technology, technical infrastructure, multi-media, and professional development
- Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Experience with Frontline Education Platforms including Professional Growth, Recruiting & Hiring, and Central is preferred
