Position OverviewA wholesale apparel company based in New York City is seeking an experienced and proactive Human Resources Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of human resources operations. This role is responsible for payroll administration, hiring and onboarding, benefits management, employee relations, and HR compliance across the organization.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands the dynamics of the apparel or wholesale industry, and can partner closely with leadership to support both operational needs and company culture.
Key Responsibilities Payroll & Compensation- Manage and oversee payroll processing to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance
- Coordinate with payroll providers and internal teams regarding payroll changes, adjustments, and reporting
- Maintain accurate employee records related to compensation, timekeeping, and payroll deductions
- Lead full-cycle recruiting efforts for corporate, showroom, warehouse, and operational roles
- Partner with department managers to identify staffing needs and develop effective hiring strategies
- Oversee onboarding processes to ensure a smooth and compliant employee experience
- Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other offerings
- Serve as the primary point of contact for benefits-related questions and enrollment
- Coordinate annual open enrollment and communicate benefits updates clearly to employees
- Serve as a trusted resource for employees and managers regarding HR policies and workplace issues
- Address employee relations matters, conduct investigations, and recommend appropriate resolutions
- Support performance management processes, including reviews, corrective actions, and development plans
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws and employment regulations
- Maintain and update employee handbooks, policies, and procedures
- Oversee HR documentation, personnel files, and recordkeeping
- Partner with leadership to support company culture and employee engagement initiatives
- Develop and implement HR programs that support retention, growth, and productivity
- Analyze HR metrics and provide insights to management
- Proven experience in a Human Resources Manager or senior HR role
- Strong knowledge of payroll, benefits administration, and employment law
- Experience managing full-cycle recruiting and employee relations
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
- Experience in the apparel, wholesale, or retail industry
- Familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- Hands-on, solution-oriented mindset
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
