Executive Search Specialist (Financial Services)
- Location: Manhattan
- Working Model: Hybrid – 3 days on site
- Contract type: Ongoing temp contract, could convert
- Hourly rate: $125 – $150
A large, complex financial services organization is building a strengthened in-house executive search capability as part of a broader shift toward more strategic, forward-looking leadership hiring. This contract role will support the expansion of executive search, talent mapping, and succession-oriented hiring across multiple business lines.
The focus of this position goes beyond active requisitions and into proactive market intelligence, leadership benchmarking, and long-term talent planning.
Key Responsibilities- Manage end-to-end executive search activity for senior leadership roles, from intake through offer, across corporate, insurance, and strategic business areas
- Partner closely with senior executives to understand current and future leadership needs
- Conduct detailed market mapping, competitor intelligence, and external talent benchmarking
- Perform in-depth candidate assessment, including executive-level screening, capability evaluation, and compensation benchmarking
- Build and maintain executive-level talent pipelines, including for non-active or future roles
- Support succession planning efforts by evaluating internal versus external executive talent pools
- Collaborate with Talent Management to align leadership standards, promotion readiness, and executive assessment criteria
- Provide consultative, insight-driven search support in a build-mode environment
- 10+ years of experience gained within executive search for a SHREK firm, or in-house for a top financial services firm
- Strong research and market mapping skills, including competitor intelligence, talent benchmarking, and executive succession planning
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and effective in a fast-paced, build-mode environment
- Background in in-house executive search, retained search firms, or a hybrid of both
- Strong generalist capability across G&A, technical, and business leadership roles
- Comfortable influencing and advising senior stakeholders
- Adaptable, hands-on, and effective in evolving or newly formed teams
