Temporary Payroll & Onboarding Specialist
The Payroll & Onboarding Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while delivering a seamless and compliant onboarding experience for new hires. This role supports employees across multiple states and partners closely with HR and hiring managers to ensure payroll accuracy, regulatory compliance, and a positive employee experience from day one.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and manage the end-to-end onboarding process
- Prepare and process new hire paperwork and ensure completion of required documentation (I-9s, tax forms, acknowledgments)
- Enter and verify employee data in ADP Workforce Now and other payroll systems
- Ensure a positive onboarding experience by proactively working with Recruiting and Hiring Managers to remove barriers
- Communicate with candidates to ensure understanding
- Work with leadership to ensure payroll information is prepared in a timely manner
- Maintain Excel spreadsheets where needed
- Process payroll accurately and on time in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Support multi-state payroll compliance, including tax setup
- Reconcile payroll reports and investigate discrepancies
- Respond to employee payroll-related inquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Maintain payroll records in compliance with company policy and regulatory requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 2–4 years of payroll and/or HR operations experience
- Proficiency with ADP Workforce Now
- Proficiency with MS Office and Google Suite
- Proficiency with Excel
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment regulations
The anticipated hourly pay range for this position is $25-$40. This range represents the good‑faith estimate of the pay the employer reasonably expects to offer upon hire, based on the role’s responsibilities, required experience, location, and internal equity.
