Regulatory Compliance Specialist, Talent Manager

The Benefits Specialist will be responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker’s compensation, life insurance, flexible spending plan and 401(k) plan). The Benefits Specialist will also provide excellent customer service and quality benefits plans, investigate new benefits programs, improve existing programs and monitor benefits administration, as well as design employee benefits plans and provide analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefit programs.
Responsibilitiesand Duties
- Responsible for managing and administrating the benefits programs in partnership with our benefits vendors. This includes managing the day-to-day relationships with vendors (i.e., carriers, brokers, etc.), researching, troubleshooting, and resolving escalations for benefits inquiries
- Demonstrate and apply functional benefits knowledge to solve problems and identify opportunities for improvement
- Establish process efficiencies and streamline processes from beginning to end
- Work directly with brokers to review and recommend plan and carrier changes
- Utilize survey data in recommending new initiatives or improvements to plans that align with overall benefits strategy
- Analyze reports and prepare presentations on benefits spend, wellness utilization, and ROI
- Manage the execution of annual open enrollment for benefits, including all related events, communications, and system configuration
- Manage the implementation and roll-out of new and/or current initiatives for the wellness program
- Ensure compliance and market competitiveness of global benefits programs in partnership with HR leadership
- Administer leaves of absence in partnership with our third-party administrator
- Manage vendor payment tracking, billing, credits, and reconciliations
- Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of interfaces sent to carriers and vendors as well as issue resolution
- Closely partner with payroll for benefits administration
- Work closely with in-house counsel to ensure required notices are current, and are distributed per applicable laws
- Keep abreast of current legislation and health care industry and its effect on employee benefits and employer compliance requirements
- Maintain Summary Plan Descriptions for all benefit plans
- 3‑5+ years of progressive experience in employee benefits administration, preferably within a mid‑size or multi‑state organization
- Strong working knowledge of medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), and leave programs
- Experience managing open enrollment, vendor relationships, employee communications, and benefits‑related compliance
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex benefits information to a diverse employee population
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and strong follow‑through
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret benefits data, resolve discrepancies, and identify trends
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Proactive problem‑solver who can independently manage competing priorities and elevate issues appropriately
- Proficiencies in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, as well as familiarity with HRIS systems (UKG preferred)
- To the extent this position is performed in New York City, the annual salary range for this role is $80,000 – $100,000.
