Senior Manager, Talent Strategy & Development
The Senior Manager reports to the VP of Talent Strategy & Development. This role works closely with the VP, Director of Talent Strategy & Engagement, and key stakeholders to develop and retain On-Air and Off-Air talent.
Responsibilities- Review and evaluate on-air talent reels regularly to support recruitment and ongoing development efforts.
- Partner with the VP to support talent feedback processes, including check‑ins, performance evaluations, and development planning.
- Maintain and update the talent database, ensuring accurate feedback documentation and proactively identifying trends to develop solutions.
- Monitor on-air talent presence across social media platforms and provide guidance to strengthen engagement, brand alignment, and digital effectiveness.
- Lead the design and execution of engagement and professional development programs for off‑air talent (Producers and below) in collaboration with the VP and Executive Producers.
- Work closely with talent and voice coaches to align individualized development plans and performance priorities.
- Provide direct coaching and actionable feedback to talent, including field‑based support, to elevate performance and cross‑platform readiness.
- Ensure timely documentation, tracking, and follow‑through on all development plans and performance outcomes.
- Curate, organize, and manage talent reels as part of the broader evaluation and development process.
- Manage and develop the Talent Strategy & Development Support Associate, providing day‑to‑day direction and coaching.
- Build and maintain strong, trusted relationships with leadership, talent, and key stakeholders across platforms.
- 7+ years of experience in field producing and package producing with talent, including senior level daily broadcast experience in script writing, editing, and structuring.
- Experience in news, media, and related industry.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain trusting relationships with leadership across platforms.
- Experience managing highly sensitive information.
- Excellent communication of feedback in a constructive manner to prospective and current talent.
- Keen sense of creative problem‑solving.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and drive talent strategy within news and creative environments.
- Strong influence and ability to work through others in a highly matrixed organization.
- Proficiency in editing and video production.
Bachelor's degree.
Compensation & BenefitsThe hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $132,800 to $178,000 per year. The base pay will be determined based on internal equity and may vary depending on geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A bonus and/or long‑term incentive units may be provided, along with a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
