The YMCA of Greater New York Association Office seeks a Benefit, Compensation & HRIS Manager who will provide solid analytical, technical, and consultative support across the Association, ensuring accurate processing, timely crisis resolution, the creation/generation of various reports, and regulatory compliance. The Manager will be the primary contact for all benefit and compensation administration inquiries, report requests, onboarding procedures, and policies, and will also be responsible for the HRIS.
Key Responsibilities- Responsible for the HRIS; provides guidance to all branch HR Coordinators and Association Office staff on the Human Resources and Benefit modules, including report creation and generation (ad hoc), ongoing procedural guide creation and updates, various element testing (both HR and Payroll), and implementation. Includes training all levels of staff on the system.
- Primary contact for all health and welfare plan administration and guidance; subject‑matter expert on the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
- Customizes and manages file interfaces with vendors and insurance carriers, ensuring accurate plan enrollments, reconciliations, and timely COBRA notifications.
- Assists retirees and COBRA participants with various benefit plan inquiries.
- Synthesizes leave requests (FMLA, Disability, PFL, Prenatal, Personal, etc.) by maintaining, tracking, and managing disability/leave files and records; serves as the primary contact for all staff regarding leave.
- Works with the Senior Executive of Benefits & Compensation to manage the annual Open Enrollment process, including creating and distributing communications and testing and implementing changes in the HRIS.
- Works with the Senior Executive of Benefits & Compensation to maintain and manage the YMCA Retirement Fund (YERDI) system, conducting monthly audits and acting as the main point of contact for all plan questions.
- Assists in the administration of the Salary Administration Plan, grading all Association positions, answering compensation questions, and supporting the annual exempt and non‑exempt compensation process; compiles and analyzes year‑end compensation data upon request from senior management.
- Administers the Incentive Pay program, monitoring eligibility, staff communications, and ensuring timely and accurate payment processing.
- Manages PTO accruals in the HRIS, providing guidance on eligibility and calculations.
- Manages all Qualified Domestic Orders, Qualified Medical Orders, Unemployment Insurance claim questionnaires, and employment verifications.
- Collaborates with the Senior Executive of Benefits & Compensation on special projects requested by various department heads and branches (e.g., national Y directory, EEO‑1 reporting, headcounts).
- Handles ad‑hoc projects as requested.
- Supervises one Coordinator.
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience (Human Resources Management preferred).
- PHR or SPHR designation desired but not essential.
- Five (5+) years of solid Human Resources experience in benefits and compensation plan administration, with strong knowledge of ERISA, FLSA, and/or Department of Labor regulations (Eight (8+) years desired).
- HRIS experience required; experience with Workday a plus.
- Knowledge of Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.).
- Knowledge of ERISA, FLSA, Affordable Care Act (ACA), vendor negotiations, and various benefit plan designs.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Detail‑oriented with ability to multitask.
- Hybrid position with three (3) in‑office days required.
