Job Summary

The Lateral Recruiting Assistant supports the Legal Recruiting Team in all aspects of lateral recruitment. Primary responsibilities include coordinating candidate interviews, preparing recruiting materials, maintaining recruiting databases and reporting, facilitating candidate travel and logistics, and providing administrative support throughout the hiring process. This role requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced professional environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and schedule interviews, meetings, and candidate visits for lateral associate, counsel, and partner candidates; work with Conference Services and other departments to manage logistics.
  • Prepare interview schedules, candidate materials, attorney briefing documents, and related recruiting correspondence.
  • Serve as a point of contact for candidates, attorneys, and search firms throughout the interview process.
  • Collect, track, and compile attorney interview feedback in a timely and confidential manner.
  • Monitor and track candidate submissions received from search firms and referrals.
  • Maintain accurate records of candidate information and activity within the applicant tracking system.
  • Maintain recruiting files and records, including agency fee agreements and invoices, correspondence, and candidate materials.
  • Coordinate candidate travel as needed.
  • Greet candidates and facilitate interview‑day logistics to ensure a professional and seamless candidate experience.
  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of candidate communication, onboarding materials, and new hire documentation.
  • Generate recruiting reports and assist with tracking pipeline activity.
  • Support lateral recruiting event planning initiatives.
  • Assist with legal recruiting team projects, process improvements, and department initiatives.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential candidate and recruiting information with discretion.
  • Contribute to special projects and perform other related duties as assigned.
Education

Bachelor’s degree required.

Skills and Experience Required
  • Ability to develop and maintain favorable relationships with attorneys and staff to develop successful interview schedules and communicate relevant information related to the interview process.
  • Professional demeanor with excellent organizational and administrative abilities.
  • Effective presentation of information verbally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with MS Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Team‑oriented approach to collaborate with members from various departments across the Firm.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, balance competing demands, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced professional environment.
  • Client‑focused with a personable and outgoing demeanor.
Preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint; advanced knowledge preferred.
Salary Information

NY Only:
The estimated base salary range for this position is $60,000 to $70,000 at the time of posting. The actual salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.

This role is non‑exempt meaning it is overtime pay eligible. Simpson Thacher will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.
