Benefits Administrator – Leave of Absence

Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH) is recruiting a Benefits Administrator to join our HR team, focusing primarily on leave administration. The role will handle day‑to‑day delivery of the existing leave of absence program and provide analytical and technical support. Responsibilities may also include administrative and operational support of our retirement program.

Areas of Responsibility
  • Leave of Absence Oversight for US leave administration (sick leave, FMLA, Worker’s Comp, State Leave Coordination NY, NJ, MA Paid Family/Medical Leave) for approximately 300 unique leaves per year.
  • Key contact for employees/managers and liaison between third‑party administrator – ensuring employee goes out on leave and returned efficiently.
  • Ensure payroll changes processed accurately.
  • Retirement Support: day‑to‑day administration, operational evolution, and compliance filings/audits for BBH’s 401(k) and pension plans.
  • Benefits US Total Rewards Statements: delivery of the US total reward statement, oversee complex testing of data feed process.
  • Retiree benefits administration: oversight for transition from active to retired status; manage retiree medical, life insurance, direct bill payments; manage annual retiree communications.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related disciplines.
  • 2‑4+ years of experience working in HR Benefits.
  • Knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to all types of leaves of absence, including ADA, FMLA, Worker’s Compensation and coordination with other State Paid Family/Medical leave offerings.
  • Retirement plan experience preferred.
  • Vendor/system implementation and project management experience a plus.
  • Medicare knowledge a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills including Mail Merge, Pivot Tables, V Lookup, etc.
Compensation
  • Salary: $75k‑$85k base salary + annual bonus.
Location & Schedule
  • Based in New York City; hybrid role with minimum three days per week in office.
