Who we are:
The Police Athletic League (or PAL) is New York City’s largest independent youth development organization. We operate diverse programs from Head Start, Day Car and Universal Pre-K programs; to elementary and middle school after-school programs, summer day camps and summer Play streets. We run evening teen centers and college readiness programs, as well as youth employment and juvenile justice programs. In its over a century of service, PAL is continuing its evolution and remains a vibrant and vital New York City institution.
Position Summary The Recruiter will support the Human Resources team in recruiting staff for the organization’s after-school and summer youth programs. Working closely with the HR Manager and full-time recruiter, this role assists with sourcing, screening, and coordinating candidates to help ensure programs are adequately staffed with qualified individuals.
Pay & Commitment:$30 - $32 per hour
25 hours a week Available to work consistently through September 30th.
Key Responsibilities Assist with recruiting efforts for after-school and summer program positions, including Group Leaders, Activity Specialists, and other center support staff.
Post and maintain job listings across recruitment platforms.
Review applications and conduct initial candidate screenings.
Schedule interviews and coordinate communication between candidates and hiring managers.
Support recruitment events, job fairs, and community outreach efforts.
Maintain accurate applicant tracking records and recruitment documentation.
Assist with onboarding coordination, including collecting required paperwork and tracking required clearances.
Provide general administrative support to the HR and recruitment team as needed.
Qualifications Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in recruitment, HR support, or administrative coordination preferred.
Experience working in youth programs, education, or nonprofit organizations is a plus.
Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with applicant tracking systems is a plus.
