Job Summary

The HR Administrator is responsible for supporting the Human Resources Leadership Team in building and maintaining an HR department that is progressive, strategic, results driven and works in administrative excellence to support the vision and mission of The Riverside Church.

Under supervision, the HR Administrator performs work of light to moderate difficulty in human resources and benefits administration and performs related work as assigned.

Essential Functions

  • Answers phones for the HR department.
  • Assists employees and supervisors with basic interpretation of HR policies and procedures.
  • Responds to reference checks and verifications of employment status.
  • Assists the HR leadership team with HR projects.
  • Assists and assumes increasing responsibility with managing individual ADP HRIS modules; e.g. benefits, paid time off policies, time and attendance, payroll, etc.
  • Assists recruitment process (excluding managerial levels and above); including: job postings, pre-screen potential candidates, managing candidate correspondance, scheduling of interviews, reference checks, create hire letters and rejection letters.
  • Coordinates and executes all aspects of onboarding new employees as required by federal, state, and local laws;
    Responsible for compliance with DOE and DOH requirements.
  • Works collaboratively with program staff.
  • Participates in benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting and approving invoices for payment.
  • Handles staff benefit inquiries and complaints to ensure quick, equitable, courteous resolution.
  • Ensures timely and correct processing of all invoices.
  • Manages day-to-day maintenace and accuracy of human resources personnel files, records, benefits enrollment, application and claim records for all Church benefit plans, compiles reports from the database as needed.
  • Reviews completed timecard data and confirm pay detail is in compliance with Church policies; ensure pay details are accurately transmitted in ADP.
  • Responsible for accuracy of all personnel files and HRIS system as recorded throughout employee’s life cycle.
  • Provides high level of customer service to staff and team members by providing timely responses to phone and email inquiries.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to type, file or lift office supplies up to 20 pounds. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and hear.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time, benefits eligible position. Regular days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

JOB REQUIREMENTS Experience and Required Knowledge
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Organizational Psychology, Business or other related field
  • Basic knowledge of HR employment related laws and practices preferred
  • HR Experience for a minimum of 2 years
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize work effectively
  • Innovative, quick-learner with a great attention to detail and accuracy
  • Build strong working relationships with all levels of employees ensuring superior customer service skills
  • Team player capable of handling diversified duties and learning quickly in a changing environment
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of HRIS systems required; ADP strongly preferred
