Title: Human Resources Assistant
Location: NY, NY (Onsite), Monday-Friday (9:00 AM-5:00 PM)
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $35-$45 per hour, depending on experience
Position SummaryA growing professional services organization is seeking a Human Resources Assistant to support day-to-day HR operations and serve as a key point of contact for employees. This role is ideal for someone with 2-5 years of HR experience who enjoys working directly with employees, providing guidance, and supporting onboarding and HR administration in a fast-paced environment. Industry experience is not required.
The successful candidate will help create a positive employee experience by managing onboarding activities, assisting with HR and payroll-related processes, responding to employee inquiries, and supporting leave administration. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, discretion, and a customer-service mindset.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate and facilitate employee onboarding activities for new hires.
- Guide employees through HR, payroll, and related systems.
- Respond to questions regarding employee benefits and assist with benefits-related inquiries.
- Support leave of absence administration and employee communications.
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee HR questions and concerns.
- Build positive relationships with employees and maintain an approachable, service-oriented presence.
- Research complex HR questions and provide timely follow-up when answers are not immediately available.
- Assist with HR documentation, compliance activities, and employee records management.
- Support a high-volume onboarding period, including approximately 10 professional hires joining the organization during September.
- Partner closely with HR leadership to ensure a smooth transition during an upcoming parental leave coverage period.
- 2-5 years of Human Resources experience.
- Experience supporting onboarding, employee relations, benefits, payroll, or HR administration.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Highly organized with strong follow-through and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable working onsite in a collaborative environment.
- Experience with HRIS and payroll systems preferred.
