The Opportunity We are seeking a Leaves and Absence Coordinator to join our Firm. This position will be based in our New York City office (hybrid). The Leaves and Absence Coordinator assists the Leave & Accommodation Supervisor in managing all leaves of absence for both the attorney and Business Services Professional (BSP) populations. Enters and updates leave information in Workday, and coordinates with Payroll to ensure correct payment and government-required offsets.

Works closely with the Benefits department on disability-related leaves, demonstrating a thoughtful approach while maintaining discretion and confidentiality.

Assists the supervisor in managing all leaves of absence for both the attorney and BSP populations, including but not limited to FMLA, state and local leave laws, parental leave, and personal leaves.

Enters and updates all leave-related data in Workday, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of records.

Coordinates with Payroll to ensure correct payment during leaves and provides payroll with any offsets per government requirements.

Works closely with the Benefits department when leaves are related to disability, ensuring proper coordination of benefits and leave entitlements.

Assists with tracking and monitoring leave durations, return-to-work dates, and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local leave laws.

Assists with maintaining leave-related documentation and correspondence, including approval letters, denial notices, and return-to-work communications.

Assists with generating leave reports and metrics for management review.

Exercises and maintains strict confidentiality regarding all employee leave matters.

Assists with researching and staying current on federal, state, and local leave laws, including FMLA, and communicates updates to the team.

Assists with coordinating the interactive process for employees requesting accommodations related to leave.

Assists with responding to employee inquiries regarding leave policies, procedures, and entitlements.

Assists with special projects related to leave administration, as assigned.

Provides assistance when and where necessary to meet deadlines.

Assists with ensuring Firm compliance with all applicable leave laws and regulations.

Qualifications Current knowledge of industry best practices, trends and techniques

Knowledge and proficiency in leave laws, FMLA in particular, and ability to stay abreast of new and evolving leave legislation

Delivers timely and accurate work products, and responds with a sense of urgency

Knowledge of relevant Firm computer software programs (e.g., Workday, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to learn new software and operating systems

Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing

Demonstrates close attention to detail

Ability to handle multiple projects and shifting priorities

Ability to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentiality

Ability to organize and prioritize work Ability to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environment

Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team Ability to meet deadlines

Flexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needs

Education & Experience Bachelor's degree

Minimum of three years of related HR or leave administration experience
