Position Summary
The Veteran Employment and Training Specialist supports veterans in achieving career goals by connecting them to training, certifications, and employment opportunities. This role provides guidance on VA benefits, assists with program enrollment and completion, and works with employers and training providers to promote long-term employment and housing stability.
Key Responsibilities- Build partnerships with employers and training providers to create job opportunities
- Connect veterans to training, certifications, and career pathways aligned with their goals
- Conduct outreach, job development, and community engagement activities
- Assess participant needs and develop individualized employment/training plans
- Track participant progress, maintain accurate records, and support reporting requirements
- Provide light case management and ongoing follow-up to ensure employment stability
- Process training-related documentation and payments
- Represent the program through networking events and stakeholder engagement
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience in workforce development, job placement, or related field preferred
- Ability to build relationships with employers, training providers, and community partners
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required)
- Comfortable with fieldwork across NYC and community outreach
- Self-starter who works independently with minimal oversight
- Skilled in outreach, partnership-building, and program promotion
- Detail-oriented with experience tracking data and outcomes
- Strong communicator with ability to present information clearly
- Team player comfortable in both in-person and virtual environments
- Experience working with veterans is a plus
