Brooklyn Plaza Medical Center is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented HR Generalist to support the daily operations of the Human Resources Department in a fast-paced healthcare environment. This role is ideal for an HR professional who thrives in a hands-on operational role and is passionate about supporting employees, managers, compliance, and organizational culture.

The HR Generalist serves as a key partner in employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, leave management, HR systems administration, performance management, and offboarding activities.

Position Summary

The HR Generalist supports the day-to-day administration of Human Resources functions while ensuring compliance with organizational policies and employment regulations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong judgment, professionalism, confidentiality, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic healthcare setting.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Employee Relations & Employee Support
  • Serve as a first point of contact for routine employee relations matters and escalte complex issues as appropriate
  • Support performance management processes, including coaching managers on documentation and corrective action procedures
  • Assist with employee investigations and maintain accurate documentation
  • Respond to employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs
  • Support employee engagement initiatives and workplace culture activities
Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Manage recruitment logistics, including job postings, interview coordination, candidate communication, and hiring support
  • Prepare offer letters and facilitate pre-employment processes, including background checks, reference checks, and I-9 verification
  • Coordinate onboarding activities to ensure a positive and compliant new hire experience
  • Maintain recruitment and onboarding documentation and records
Benefits Administration
  • Administer employee benefits programs and respond to employee benefit inquiries
  • Reconcile benefits invoices and coordinate timely submissions for payment
  • Assist with open enrollment activities and employee communications
  • Coordinate with benefits vendors and brokers as needed
HR Operations, Payroll & HRIS Administration
  • Maintain and update employee records within the HRIS system, preferably Paycom
  • Process employment verifications and maintain personnel files and HR documentation
  • Generate HR reports for leadership, audits, compliance reviews, and operational needs
  • Coordinate payroll-related updates, including new hires, terminations, leave changes, and status updates
  • Ensure HR records are maintained in compliance with federal, state, and organizational requirements
Compliance & Leave Administration
  • Assist with HR audits, compliance activities, and regulatory reporting
  • Process and track employee leave requests, including FMLA, Paid Family Leave (PFL), disability, and workers’ compensation
  • Educate employees and managers regarding leave policies and procedures
  • Coordinate with Payroll, managers, and third-party administrators to ensure accurate leave tracking and communication
Performance Management & Training
  • Coordinate performance review cycles and track completion
  • Support employee training initiatives and compliance programs
  • Coordinate training logistics and maintain training documentation
Offboarding & Employee Transitions
  • Manage employee separation processes, including exit documentation and offboarding coordination
  • Coordinate with Payroll, IT, and Benefits to ensure timely employee separations
  • Assist with layoffs and workforce transition processes as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of Human Resources experience required
  • Experience with HRIS systems;
    Paycom experience strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
